JOINERY CASE STUDIES

Joinery team in Edenbridge

We have chosen a couple of case studies to show how we approach projects.

We strive to provide our customers with a first-class service and product from initial enquiry to installation of the joinery.

Because everything is hand made, the detail is in the planning phase, and having a true understanding of the end result for the customer.

Case Studies: About

CASE STUDY - PERIOD DOOR

This series of photographs shows a pair of the main gates to Penshurst Place being restored a number of years ago.

Where possible the original sections were re-used and all damaged sections were replaced.

Traditional jointing methods were used and all existing parts numbered and re-fitted in their original place.

The final picture is an external view of the doors following completion of the work with the wicket gate fully operational.

CASE STUDY - INTERNAL BI-FOLDS

The pictures to your right show a set of 4 American Oak folding doors.

With the use of running gear the doors can be part or fully opened with ease creating extra space when required.

In the fully opened position the bi-fold doors do not take up valuable space with-in the room.

CASE STUDY - PERIOD WINDOW

The images to the right are for Hever Castle, a number of years ago we were asked to replace two windows and a wall.

Both windows formed a section of the wall in the courtyard and all the sections were load bearing.

All the lead lights were refurbished and the Oak was colour matched to the existing windows.

CASE STUDY - STAIRCASE

The images above are of a staircase we manufactured for a customer that needed to follow the curve of her wall.

We started by creating the wall in our workshop to make sure that the Pine strings would fit perfectly to the contours of the wall in her home.

As you can see this needed a precise plan from the outset. As with all our staircases once the staircase parts were manufactured it was fully assembled in our workshop prior to installation.

The final images show how well the staircase fits against the curved wall.

CASE STUDY - GRAND DESIGNS

We were asked to manufacture windows and doors by Hemsted Limited, a building firm we have worked with on a number of occasions.

This was for a house being constructed in Rye to be shown on Grand Designs.

The architect had specified Accoya to be used in the construction of the joinery due to the house being situated in a marine environment. We were asked to apply a spray finish to a specific RAL colour and we also colour matched the trickle vents on the windows. All Stainless steel ironmongery was required to make sure that the life expectancy of the timber was not compromised.
